Red Barn Academy has transitioned to
John Volken Academy
As you may have heard, Red Barn Academy has recently undergone a transition. The founder of Red Barn Farms, Rich Haws, has decided to step down and pursue other charitable ventures, meaning Red Barn Academy, as it was known, is no more. However, our mission of reinventing broken lives remains the same, and we are now proudly a part of John Volken Academy!
John Volken Academy was established in 2009 in Canada, and has locations in Gilbert, Arizona and Kent, Washington. We are excited to add North Salt Lake, Utah to that list! Interestingly, it was one of the therapeutic communities our founder studied when developing Red Barn Academy and is also being managed by previous graduates of Red Barn Academy. Both academies share similar values and approaches, and we are happy to share that our staff and student body remain unchanged throughout this transition.
We are now under the guidance of a new and dedicated board of directors who share our values and are committed to our mission. Their leadership ensures that we can continue providing the same life-changing opportunities to our students.
Let’s keep changing lives together! Support the change of Red Barn Academy into John Volken Academy.

Whether or not addiction is a disease is irrelevant
BECAUSE EVEN IF IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT,
IT’S STILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
Who We are
Who We Are
We are a licensed, two-year minimum life-skills academy that reinvents lives broken from addiction, and crime by teaching honesty, accountability, and integrity in a farm setting.
What We Do
We are not a ‘drug-rehab’ and we do not utilize or allow any medication assisted treatment of any kind. We are a peer driven community that uses an “each-one-teach-one” process of behavior modification, focusing on doing the next right thing until it becomes a habit.
Ways We Give
Any contribution helps build our community. Red Barn Farms is a 501(c)(3) public non-profit organization, so your donations are tax-deductible.
